As I remember, in the original series, there were three Ghost Pokémons which were able to disappear, immune to attacks and so on. To beat someone, Ash needed to catch one of those and he somehow succeeded in the end.
What happened after that? Either I missed few episodes or my memories are really bad. Wouldn't that made Ash invincible? Yet, I never saw him using Ghost Pokémons again, not even in Pokémon League (and, he lost).
