Anyne know the title of a sci-fi short story where man becomes a plant

Anyone know the tile of a sci-fi short story which ends with the protagonist growing roots on his feet and sinking them into soil, finding peace.

Thought it was Bradbury/Martian Chronicles, but seems not.
