A solar-themed monster or creature

stackexchange This is my question on this stackexchange, so feel free to reprimand me if it does not adhere to local rules or informal standards.

I am working on a project which involves researching and describing themes in various fantasy beastiaries. It can be a creature of any kind (good or evil, intelligent or a humble animal...) and from any source (preferably cRPG games, but movies, comics, books, mythos will be fine). A requirement: no humans. Cheap cop-outs (like elementals) don't cut it either.

E.g. for the plant theme I've included Groot, Treebeard and Bulbasaur.

There are plenty of darkness and shadow creatures, as well as ones who have a pronounced relationship with the Moon, so I want to find an opposite. So far though I haven't been able to find a fantasy creature with a strong solar theme behind it. There's plenty of Sun characters, like solar knights, monks or anthropomorphic gods and godlike creatures (angels), but I haven't found any fictional physical creature that suit my needs.

So my question is - what solar themed animals or intelligent creatures has nerd culture produced?
