Would Dain of still be crowned king under the mountain even if Fili or Kili had lived?

In the films, Thorin talks to Fili as Fili is his heir, yet a few people i know said in the books even if Fili or even Kili had lived the thrown still would of went to Dain Ironfoot.

why is this?
