For how long Groot needs to be in pot before he could walk?

In the end of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket put a part of Groot in a pot and it worked. Groot literally grew up a little in the pot. Say it baby Groot, or simply undeveloped Groot, how long does he/it need to be in the pot before he could come out to walk?

I know the movie doesn't cover it, so I am looking for the answer from comics, too.
