How did Hermione (and other muggle borns) know what to do when she got the Hogwarts letter? [duplicate]

I was reading this question about how Hermione and other muggle borns would have received their Hogwarts letter. Then I wondered, she gets this letter about a wizardry school, does the whole it-all-makes-sense-now routine, somehow convinces her parents that this is real and that she wants to go there. Now, how the hell does she proceed?

Harry had Hagrid to show him where to buy all his school stuff, and he bumped into the weasleys to show him how to get to platform 9 and 3/4. Hermione wouldn't have had such guidance. How did she know how to get to Diagon alley and how did she find the train?

Now that I'm thinking about it, how did she pay for her school stuff? She presumably only had muggle money, no wizard money at all. Maybe there's like, a tutorial where you get to know the world and get some starting money + gear :P?
