Can Elves grow facial hair?

I'm wondering does anyone know of any Elves with facial hair?

In all of the fantasy games / books / movies I've seen, I've never seen an Elf with a beard.

Can they grow facial hair at all or is it just an Elf thing to be cleanly shaven at all times?

Do they always have to be hair-free in that they are as different looking to dwarves as possible? In most stories, elves and dwarves hate each other, does that have something to do with it?
